Social Media Star Who Was Censored for Sharing Biblical Beliefs on Marriage Wins Big Ruling

A lawsuit against social media star Erika "Kika" Nieto was overturned last week after the Colombian Supreme Court ruled that she should not be censored for sharing her beliefs about marriage.

Earlier this year, Nieto was ordered to remove an online video where she staated that marriage is the union between a man and a woman, however, she will "tolerate" other perspectives.

"God created man and woman so that they could be with each other," she said at the time. "I don't consider men being with men or women being with women to be good, but I tolerate that."

An activist complained about her comments, leading the national court to order the video be removed from the platform.

Progressive church groups have condemned the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, issuing statements that spread misinformation about the 18-year-old and the 2020 shooting of Jacob Blake that led to protests and riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

United Methodist Women, which describes itself as “the largest denominational organization for women,” released a statement last week lamenting the “not guilty” verdict in the Rittenhouse trial.

On Nov. 19, a jury in Kenosha found Rittenhouse not guilty on charges related to the fatal shooting of two protesters and the...More

Marcus Lamb, ministry leader and founder of the Daystar Television Network, has passed away at the age of 64 after contracting COVID-19.

“It’s with a heavy heart we announce that Marcus Lamb, president and founder of Daystar Television Network, went home to be with the Lord this morning. More than three years after Pope Francis sparked a firestorm of religious debate by telling a young boy that his deceased atheist father might still end up in Heaven, a new study from the Pew Research Center shows a majority of Catholic and mainline Christians also believe people who don’t believe in God will go to Heaven.

Data for the study, conducted Sept. 20-26, was collected from a nationally representative sample of 6,485 U.S. adults.

Pew researchers decided for the first time to tackle deep philosophical questions like the meaning of life, the purpose of suffering and why bad things happen to people. The national study was released amid a backdrop of major life-changing events for...More

U.N. Passes Controversial Resolution Calling Temple Mount Only by its Muslim Name

The United Nations passed a controversial resolution Wednesday that criticizes Israel and calls the Temple Mount only by its Muslim name, Haram al‑Sharif.

The resolution passed easily, 129-11, although Israel, the United States, Canada and Australia all opposed it.

The Temple Mount is the site of the first temple that was built by Solomon and destroyed by the Babylonians, and of the second temple that was destroyed by the Romans. It was this second temple that Jesus visited. The Western Wall, where Jews pray, is part of the Temple Mount structure. The Temple Mount also is considered holy within Islam.

The resolution says, “any actions...More

Gospel Singer Kirk Franklin Produces First-Ever Gospel Christmas Movie

Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin has produced the first-ever gospel Christmas film. It comes out this weekend.

The movie, Kirk Franklin's a Gospel Christmas, will premiere on Lifetime this Saturday at 7 pm CST. It stars Demetria McKinney, Chaz Lamar Shepherd and Jen Harper.

"The film will show how much gospel music can live and survive outside of just Sunday morning, [and] that it can be on TV, on Broadway and in movies," Franklin told The Christian Post in a recent interview. Franklin is one of the film’s executive producers.

"It will be a great moment for the genre, the community and Lifetime," he added.

The movie tells the story of Olivia (played by McKinney), who is an assistant pastor given the role of senior pastor just one...More

Pastor in Nepal sentenced to 2 years in prison for saying prayer can heal COVID-19

A court in Nepal has sentenced a pastor to two years in prison under the country’s harsh anti-conversion law for merely saying that prayers can heal COVID-19, according to reports.

The District Court in Dolpa this week sentenced Pastor Keshab Raj Acharya to two years in prison and a fine of $165 (20,000 Rupees) for suggesting on social media that prayer could bring healing from the coronavirus, the U.S.-based persecution watchdog International Christian Concern said in a statement.

Pastor Acharya was first arrested on March 23 last year from his home in Pokhara, Gandaki Pradesh Province, on charges of spreading false information regarding COVID-19. Though he was released about a fortnight later, he was rearrested moments later on charges of “outraging...More

Threatening Letters Terrorize Christians in Northwest Nigeria

Christians in northwest Nigeria are living in terror after receiving letters threatening death unless they close their churches, sources said.

A police spokesman said Zamfara State Police have beefed up security at churches and increased intelligence-gathering in response to the letters that warn Christians will be killed or kidnapped if places of worship are not shut down.

“There’s fear and panic here since the letter was received,” Mary Ibrahim, a resident of Gussau, the Zamfara state capital, told Morning Star News by text message. “Christians no longer find it easy to attend fellowship and Bible Study programs in churches.”

Police said they are trying to determine who sent the letters, while area residents suspect Islamic extremists among Fulani herdsmen or members of Boko...More

Chicago Pastor Camps Out for 100 Days to Raise Awareness about Gun Violence

A Chicago pastor recently embarked on a 100 Day "tent-a-thon" to combat the city's near-record levels of gun violence.

Late last month, Pastor Corey Brooks, founder of Project H.O.O.D., began a 100-day campout to end gun violence and poverty in his Woodlawn neighborhood. Brooks will reside in a tent above eight shipping containers at 6615 S. King Dr. until Feb. 28, 2022.

"I'm in an environment on the South Side of Chicago that can be pretty tough," Brooks told the Chicago Sun-Times in an interview. "To be outside in the elements, to make that sacrifice over a long period of time, draws attention."

In battling the cold, Brooks brought a small heater to keep him warm and a stove that serves as a firepit. As a bathroom, Brooks has only a bucket and baby...More

Three more of the 17 Christian Aid Ministries missionaries kidnapped in Haiti on Oct. 16 were released Sunday night, the Ohio-based international aid ministry announced Monday as it urges continued prayers for 12 colleagues still held captive by the notorious 400 Mawozo gang.

“We are thankful to God that three more hostages were released last night,” Christian Aid Ministries said in a statement Monday morning.

“Those who were released are safe and seem to be in good spirits,” the organization added. “As with the previous release, we are not able to provide the names of the people released, the circumstances of the...More

Attacks on India's Christians Increase with Proposal of New Law: Region Has 'Lost its Humanity'

Attacks on India’s Christians have increased in recent weeks since the ruling government in one southern state proposed an anti-conversion law, according to a new report.

The southern state of Karnataka in India has seen 32 attacks on Christians this year, including five during a one-month stretch after the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party proposed passage of an anti-conversion law, The Indian Express reported. Supporters of such laws say they prohibit forced conversions from one religion to another, but critics – including the major human rights groups – say such laws are abused.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), for example, said anti-conversion laws are often “the basis for false accusations, harassment, and violence against...More

Pope Francis is sharply responding against the European Commission's controversial efforts to make its communications more inclusive after leaked internal guidelines drew backlash for trying to "cancel Christmas," telling staff to "avoid assuming that everyone is Christian" and celebrates Christmas.

The Religion News Service (RNS) reports internal communications of the European Commission were leaked last week by the Italian daily Il Giornale. The 30-page document, titled "Union of Equality," advised members to "avoid assuming that everyone is Christian," especially during the winter holidays.

Man accused of killing woman in church shouldn't be held criminally responsible, lawyer says
The late Evelyn Player, 69, was found dead at Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 16, 2021. | Family handout

A man accused of murdering 69-year-old retiree Evelyn Player inside a bathroom at the Southern Baptist Church in East Baltimore, Maryland, should not be held criminally responsible for her death, his lawyer argued as charging documents revealed how the praying grandmother fought her attacker to stay alive.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael S. Harrison told reporters at a press conference last Thursday that Manzie Smith Jr., a 62-year-old ex-convict with a lengthy rap sheet, was arrested and charged with Player’s Nov. 16 murder at Southern Baptist Church.

Smith’s attorney, Warren Brown, told Fox Baltimore Monday that...More
