Denzel Washington Pinpoints Key Warning Sign of the Last Days

Actor Denzel Washington does not mince words when it comes to his faith in God. In one recent newspaper interview, Washington reiterated that he is a "God-fearing man" while also warning people to not become too self-focused.

Lately, he's been making more and more headlines with comments based on his Christian faith, heaven, and making an eternal impact on earth. He was most recently seen in a video advising several players from the Miami Heat, "Last thing I'll say, which I've said a lot of times: You never see a U-Haul behind a hearse," he explained, alluding to the fact that material items will not come with you to the afterlife. "I'll say it again," he continued, "You never see a U-Haul behind a hearse. Can't take it with you. Egyptians tried it; all they got was robbed."

Not too long ago, he told the New York Times his ideas about the age we're living in and how the Bible talks about the warning signs we're seeing in our world today. "This is spiritual warfare. So, I'm not looking at it from an earthly perspective," he said. "If you don't have a spiritual anchor you'll be easily blown by the wind and you'll be led to depression."

While some might not agree with certain films he's made, or aspects of his beliefs, he's clearly becoming more focused on God. As CBN News has reported, Washington gave his life to God early on and even had a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit, but it took a few years for him to understand the weight of his decision.

"Three times...I think we all go through that. I was filled with the Holy Ghost and it scared me," he said. "I didn't want to go this deep...I want to party. It was a supernatural, once in this lifetime experience that I couldn't completely understand at the time."

Now, the 64-year-old actor lives out his tenets of faith daily. "I'm a God-fearing man," he told the NY Times. "I try not to worry. Fear is contaminated faith."

Washington goes out of his way to help others and encourage them.

Actor Corey Hawkins, who plays opposite of Denzel in "The Tragedy of Macbeth," told the New York Times the actor prays with him. "Sometimes we get talking and you see the preacher in him," he said. "He's just a natural-born charismatic leader who is not afraid to talk about his own faults or misgivings or shortcomings."

In these dire times, many are looking to the church to offer hope, but true hope and peace only come through conviction of sin and deep repentance. This is how we will truly change our nation. We can't make bad people good; only God can do that.
