Rising Christian artist Anne Wilson is now a nominee for a major country music award.

The two-time Dove Award winner and My Jesus singer was nominated last week for a CMT Music Award in the Breakthrough Female Video of the Year category for her song Rain In The Rearview. Others nominated in that category: Ashley Cooke (Your Place), Brittney Spencer (Bigger than the Song) and Tigirlily Gold (Shoot Tequila). The CMT Music Awards are operated by Country Music Television.

Earlier this year, CMT named her to its 2024 class of the CMT Next Women of Country. Fourteen female artists made the cut.

Her Instagram page showed her manager, Matthew West, breaking the news to her of the nomination. The CMT Music Awards are voted on by fans.

“I’m SO grateful for y’all and this opportunity,” she wrote.

Rain in the Rearview encourages the listener to keep going when facing trials: “Leave the rain in the rearview; don't stop 'til your eyes see the clear blue.”

“I got ten and two on a two-tone, two lanes of freedom, singing, ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel,’” the lyrics say. “Now I know what she was feeling. Oh, ‘cause I feel it, too.”

Wilson’s unique blend of country music with faith-centric lyrics has made her a popular singer for fans of both country and CCM. She was the 2022 Dove Awards New Artist of the Year and the 2022 K-Love Fan Awards Female Artist of the Year. Now, she has a nomination in a major country music category.

Wilson told ChristianHeadlines her music is a “Christian-country mix.”

“My heart is to do Christian music forever,” she told ChristianHeadlines. “I love the Christian community and I love getting to share Jesus with people. But I also feel called to take that message into the world outside of the Christian market. So one of the ways that I feel very called is just by my songs being about the Lord and about His goodness and talking about Him, but the music sounding very country. And so it's appealing to other people too, which has been really fun to see how people in other genres that don't listen to Christian music are listening to my music, because they feel this pull towards it, because of the sound of it.”

Wilson’s next album, Rebel, releases April 19.
