Scriptures Expounded Series Section

In the course of reading my Bible everyday using this daily devotionals website, I get touched by a number of Scriptures and I am moved and inspired by the Holy Spirit to expound them.
Here you have all the Scriptures that have so far been expounded.
I hope you learn something new as you read them. Thank you.

The Hebrew Midwives cover image
The Hebrew Midwives

Exodus 1:17
But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

After the demise of Prime Minister Joseph in Egypt and the Pharaoh that appointed him, there arose a new Pharaoh who either didn’t know about Joseph at all or never cared to know or didn’t give a damn!...More

The LORD's Organs cover image
The LORD's Organs

Genesis 8:21
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Genesis 8:21 is rich with many insights into the nature of our God. Indeed, there is no searching of His understanding (Isaiah 40:28). Nobody can ever really fully understand or comprehend God. Nevertheless, the LORD doesn’t want us to stop trying or seeking to know and draw close to Him all the more. This can only be done by searching the scriptures (John 5:39)...More

Easy Yoke & Light Burden cover image
Easy Yoke & Light Burden

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Humanly speaking, once a yoke becomes easy, it ceases to be a yoke and any burden that is light is no more a burden. Yet, our Lord Jesus assures us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. This means the yoke and burden of our Lord Jesus Christ are no burdens and yokes at all. Why then did the Lord still refer to them as burden and yoke?...More

Jesus Sanctified Himself cover image
Jesus Sanctified Himself

John 17:19
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

When Jesus talked about sanctifying Himself for the sake of His disciples and would-be followers, He meant He made Himself holy so that they might be holy. You may then ask; wasn’t Jesus supposed to be holy from the beginning of His earthly life?...More

When Hate is Okay cover image
When Hate is Okay

Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

There is a worldview on hate as being bad and unacceptable under any circumstance. Nothing should or deserves to be hated according to the world. It’s that bad. However, in the Scripture being expounded, the Lord makes it clear that whoever cannot hate his family and himself cannot be His disciple....More

Brethren in the World Also Suffer Afflictions cover image
Brethren in the World Also Suffer Afflictions

1 Peter 5:8-10
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

When people are being urged to give their lives to Christ, they are hardly ever told of a rough road ahead. There is this expectation of a life free of afflictions (challenges) all the way as soon as one has accepted Jesus Christ. Irrespective of the state of the fellow prior to giving their life to Christ – whether good or bad, there is an expectation that all their afflictions will disappear when they give their life to Christ and where there is no affliction, it always will remain so....More

Reincarnation is Biblical cover image
Reincarnation is Biblical

Matthew 11:12-15
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Our LORD Jesus Christ made it clear on three occasions that Elijah (referred to in the New Testament as Elias) returned as John-the-Baptist. This coming back is properly referred to as reincarnation. Elijah was taken up by a whirlwind into heaven as stated in 2 Kings 2:11. Thus he escaped physical death. Death as we know it is a phase in our transition to the external beyond. However, the Bible tells us that some people will be so fortunate not to taste death....More

Blinded Eyes & Hardened Hearts cover image
Blinded Eyes & Hardened Hearts

John 12:40
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

In the scripture being expounded, Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 6:9-10 was revisited even as it came to pass. The Lord had deliberately blinded the eyes of the people (Jews) and hardened their hearts long before he came to the earth as a man. He did it such that seeing they will not see and hearing they will not hear neither will they be able to understand. Why?...More

Jesus, Son of Joseph cover image
Jesus, Son of Joseph

Luke 3:23
And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

Luke (said to be a physician) went ahead to prove in Luke 3 that Jesus was both the son of Joseph and the son of God. I read somewhere that the four gospels wrote about our Lord from four different perspectives. Matthew wrote about Jesus as the Messiah, Mark wrote about Jesus as the Servant of God, Luke wrote about Jesus as the Son of man and John wrote about Jesus as the Son of God....More

Not Peace But Sword cover image
Not Peace But Sword

Matthew 10:34-38
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Many Christians are often dumbfounded whenever they come across this scripture. It was our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ who is actually the Prince of Peace according to Isaiah 9:6 saying these things live and direct. Many pastors and Christian brethren have cleverly avoided reading this scripture to their audience and very few have attempted to speak about or explain it....More

Yes, You Can Judge! cover image
Yes, You Can Judge!

1 Corinthians 2:15
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

To judge is to form an opinion of about someone or something after you have examined the evidence or thought carefully about them. The world is quick to quote the Bible when it favours them but despise it when it doesn’t. True, the Lord in Matthew 7:1-2 warned us against judging but it was not a blanket admonition....More

Your Hairs are Numbered cover image
Your Hairs are Numbered

Matthew 10:30
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

This scripture was repeated almost verbatim in Luke 12:7. This shows it is no joke or mistake. Indeed, the very hairs on our hairs are all numbered as stated by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Why did the Lord go all the way to make this statement?...More

Jesus' Rescue of Peter cover image
Jesus' Rescue of Peter

Matthew 14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter put the Lord to the test by asking the Lord to allow to him come and meet Him on the water. Of course, Peter knew walking on the water was no ordinary, natural feat and that he required power from the Lord to accomplish it. And the Lord gave him at that every moment. Peter wasted no time in setting forth to exercise the extraordinary power to walk on water which the Lord had just given him...More

Evil Spirit from the LORD cover image
Evil Spirit from the LORD

1 Samuel 16:14-15
But the spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

Many of us will find it hard to comprehend the verses of scripture above. We may wonder and ask ourselves: How can an evil spirit come from God? Isn’t God supposed to be pure and holy? Isn’t the devil the source of evil? Maybe there must have been an error somewhere. Beloved, there is no error anywhere....More

Appearance of Evil cover image
Appearance of Evil

1 Thessalonians 5:22
Abstain from all appearance of evil.

The Bible says in Philippians 2:12 that we should work out our salvation with fear and trembling. This means we have a responsibility to make sure that we do all we can to stand fast and strong in the faith. Anything that appears like evil will most likely lead to evil...More

Go Thy Way cover image
Go Thy Way

Mark 10:52
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Our Lord Jesus Christ healed Blind Bartimaeus unconditionally. The sentence “Go thy way” says a lot and that was why the Bible recorded it....More

About Wet Dreams & Others cover image
About Wet Dreams & Others

Deuteronomy 23:10-14
10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp: 11 But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again. 12 Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad: 13 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee: 14 For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

Our LORD God is holy through and through. He hates iniquity and doesn’t like to behold, hear or perceive it. God created all things. Yet, He is careful not to come into contact with anything that can stain His holiness. The LORD’s holiness can be imagined as being sparkling white. Hence, anything that can stain it, He avoids....More

Weary of God? cover image
Weary of God?

Isaiah 43:22
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

God Himself was speaking to the Israelites in the scripture above. The Israelites had become weary of Him and He had to make it known to them. In the verses that follow (Isaiah 43:22-28), the LORD backs up His accusation against them with infallible proofs and thereafter declared His punishment for their behaviour....More

Divine Prison Break cover image
Divine Prison Break

Acts 5:18-20
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
