The Blood of Christ (1) — Introduction

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.
Exodus 12:13

The Blood of Christ (1) — Introduction
We would like to consider some of the scriptures that speak of the blood of Christ and its value for God and for us. The first mention of blood in the Word of God is Abel's blood, which cried out for vengeance because of Cain murdering him. Hebrews 12:24 tells us that the blood of the Lord Jesus speaks of "better things" than the blood of Abel. Abel's blood cried out for vengeance; the precious blood of our Lord cries out for forgiveness for those for whom He died.

In our scripture above, we find in the type of the Passover how the blood of the lamb sheltered the people from judgment. All of Egypt was under God's judgment. The firstborn in each house, whether of the Egyptians or the Israelites, were under the sentence of death. Only God's remedy—a lamb selected out of the flock and killed, with its blood put upon the doorpost and lintels of their houses—could shelter them from judgment. All who availed themselves of God's remedy would be safe. And God said plainly, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." The feelings of those in the house did not matter. They might have felt safe, resting in God's word, or they might have been anxious; but both alike were safe, sheltered by the blood of the lamb. How wonderful to transfer this type to the New Testament, and to the Lamb of God! All who believe in Him are eternally safe through the .

All our sins, so great, so many,

In His blood are washed away.

(Mark 4:11)

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
