Lessons on Asa (1)—Making Good Use of Quiet Times

[Asa] said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and make walls around them, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
2 Chronicles 14:7

Lessons on Asa (1)—Making Good Use of Quiet Times
We see a good attitude in Asa right at the beginning of his reign, as the land was quiet for ten years. He used that time to put things in order. First of all, he removed what is against the Lord, the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, which were there since the reign of Solomon. Then he positively commanded Judah , we will be strengthened in the Lord and be ready to face the times of trial that may, and surely will, come our way. This will manifest the reality and depth of our faith.

Let us take it to heart, especially when we know times of tranquility, to seek the Lord, to grow in His knowledge, to strengthen ourselves as well as our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to do good.

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
