The Blood of Christ (10)—Peace and Reconciliation

Having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled.
Colossians 1:20-21

The Blood of Christ (10)—Peace and Reconciliation
Colossians chapter 1 presents to us the greatness of Christ, the Head of His Church. From verses 12 to 18 we have numerous glories of our Lord brought forth. He is the Son of the Father's love; He is the Redeemer; He is the image of the invisible God; He is the Creator; He holds all things together.

Then, from verses 20 to 22 we learn something of His great work as the Reconciler. All things in heaven and in earth are going to be reconciled to the Godhead by Him. For this purpose all the fullness of the Godhead was pleased to dwell in Him when He became Man. How great He is!

This reconciliation of all things waits for a future day. But we read that we have now been reconciled! We were once alienated and enemies in our minds by wicked works. God was not our enemy, but we had become His enemies since the fall of mankind into sin. This was seen in its greatest expression when the blessed Son of God Himself stooped down into this world He created and became Man. The world was made by Him but did not know Him. His own people Israel did not receive Him . He went about doing good, but the crowd at last cried, "Away with Him! Crucify Him!"

But in amazing grace, His rejection and death upon the cross, actually led to the basis for believing man to be reconciled to God. He has made peace through the blood of His cross. His atoning work on the cross has given the basis for reconciliation to take place, so that in peace we might be brought back into God's presence, holy, blameless, and irreproachable. Are you enjoying this peace and reconciliation?
