More Than Conquerors

In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 8:37; 12:21

More Than Conquerors
The apostle Paul often wrote about what "we are," what God has in mind for all true Christians. Indeed, all born-again believers are in the Lord Jesus Christ. They may be marked by weaknesses and shortcomings, yet God helps them to be overcomers instead of being overcome by difficulties or by evil. Why? Because a holy and righteous God has set these weak believers right with Himself "in Christ." Of course, that implies the challenge for us all to be in actual practice what we are in Christ positionally. This is the secret to becoming and remaining a real overcomer.

The apostle taught that our God did not spare even His own Son to save us, because He is for us, not against us. God exalted Jesus at His right hand, where He intercedes for the believers. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ or from the love of God. Through Him we can be overcomers, despite adversities, impossible situations, tribulations, or persecutions. The secret of the overcomer is that his God is for him and with him.

Seven tremendous difficulties, listed by Paul, will not succeed in separating overcomers from the love of Christ (Rom. 8:35). Paul enumerated ten things that cannot separate us from the love of God (vv. 38-39). Does this mean that we cannot fail, or that we can do whatever we please? No, the overcomer, through faith, brings his beloved Savior and Master into every challenge he faces. He realizes that without Him he cannot do anything and that he can be an overcomer only through the love of God, and our Lord. It is not through self-effort or self-confidence, but through Him who loved us. He wants us to be "more than overcomers." The world has its "superheroes," but He desires that we be His overcomers, but only "through Him" (v. 37).

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
