Christ Our Savior (2)—He Has Come

And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people; for today a Savior has been born to you in David’s city, who is Christ the Lord. And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.
Luke 2:10–12

Christ Our Savior (2)—He Has Come
The Gospel of Luke emphasizes the grace of God, as we see in particular in the parables the Lord told in chapters 14 and 15. The grace of God appeared in this world when the eternal Son became flesh (Tit. 2:11). What a cause for rejoicing, that God has intervened in this world in grace. Soon the Lord Jesus will come in “flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God” (2 Th. 1:8). The first time, though, He came to save. It was to the lowly shepherds the first announcement of the coming of the Son of God into this world was made. How appropriate because He was not yet coming in power and glory, but as the One “meek and lowly in heart” (Mt. 11:29), and as Himself the Good Shepherd of His sheep.

The announcement from the angel was not just that there would be joy, but “great joy.” The Savior had come! The gospel of Luke both begins and ends with this thought of “great joy.” Great joy at His incarnation, and great joy at His resurrection and ascension (Lk. 24:52). The coming of the Son of God was certainly an occasion of great joy! Not just joy for the nation of the Jews, either, but for “all people”! Jew or Gentile, bond or free, He had come to be a Savior for all! How it should make our hearts rejoice to know that the Son of the Father’s love came to be, not yet the Judge of all, but the Savior available for all! He did not come then to have His enemies put under His feet, but He came as the Savior. That salvation He offers is still available. Have you trusted Him?

ENLIST A STRONGER ALLY

Its amazing that some people who need deliverance do not realize their need; rather they look for others to deliver while they remain in their bondages. In any way you need deliverance, it shall be given to you this season. If God has made several promises to you, and at the time they should be fulfilled none of...More

Are You Feeling Insecure? (2)

‘Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you…’
Jeremiah 1:17 NIV
Are you embarrassed about your beginnings? Jeremiah was. He begins his book by listing the good people an the bad people in his background. Well, guess what? We all came from a less than perfect gene pool!...More

LIVING RIGHT

A child of God is the light of the world. Light is the direct opposite of darkness. Everybody welcomes light with a shout of joy. Where there is light, hidden agendas are revealed. Jesus expects us to prove Him right by living according to His description of us. The implication of being called a child of God is...More
