Who was I really? (2)

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote - Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.
John 1:45.46.

Who was I really? (2)
William continued: "I recognised Jesus as a Rabbi who spoke the truth. He spoke in a way that every Jew could understand and one that astonished me. I discovered that in all the gospels.

After a few weeks I stated my conviction that Jesus was truly the Messiah. I did not need a special revelation for that, simple faith in Him and His Word sufficed. I became assured that I belonged to Jesus Christ, who had died and risen again, so that I could receive eternal life.

When I returned to France, my parents' reaction to my new convictions was one of indignation. All the hopes they had had of me were shattered.

Then I went to Canada. In 1976 I married Judy. Love had brought us together. I deeply regretted that my parents could not be present at our wedding. Since I confessed my faith in Jesus Christ, they stopped speaking to me. For eleven years they refused to have any contact. That only changed when our children were born. I am thankful to God for that.

I have never regretted putting my trust in the Lord Jesus and my life into His hands. In Him I found the answers to the important questions of life. For that I shall thank God eternally.
