Today’s reading: 1 Corinthians 3

But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
Matthew 22:7-9

An old anecdote tells how Count Peter of Burgos in Spain returned exhausted from hunting none day. He immediately took some rest, but not without giving his servants strict orders not to admit anyone before the next morning nor disturb his sleep on any count.
Now the then king of Aragon had just died without leaving an heir to the throne. The estates of the realm had decided to offer the crown to Count Peter. When their envoys arrived in Burgos, they were turned away by the servants who obeyed their orders. Angered, the envoys returned and the crown was offered to another. Count Peter had slept the chance of his crown away.
In a parable that Jesus told, we have a similar situation. A king had arranged a wedding feast for his son and invited the respectable citizens of the land. They sent excuses like private and business appointments to explain their inability to attend. They, clearly, were unworthy of participating in the son’s wedding feast. So here, too, the offer was made to others.
Let us take care that we do not allow our work, family business or pleasures to lull us into sleep and thereby carelessly let the opportunity of being present at the marriage feast of God’s son slip by, after God has invited us. He wants to have fellowship with us and share His riches and His joy with us. How gracious He is!

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

ACCEPTED TIME 2

God is never too early and He is never too late. His timetable is set on purpose; the purpose is not only for your sake but also for His. In all things, His name shall be glorified. No doubt, He would have been glorified healing Lazarus of his sickness, but this can’t compare to raising him from the dead after...More
