September 22, 2015 Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 7:1-19 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3 This happened in Brazil. A burglar broke into a house one evening and, hearing some sounds, quickly slipped under a bed. To his horror, the whole family entered the very room where he had crept for safety. The father of the family took a book, sat down on the bed above the intruder and read a page of it to his wife and children. The burglar had never heard such wonderful words as were read there. After the reading, the whole family knelt down to pray. The father spoke to God as to a friend who was present. The man under the bed had never imagined that it was possible to speak to God with such trust and freedom. Then all went to rest and everything became quiet in the house. The burglar crept out of his hiding place and hurriedly left the house without stealing anything - apart from the mysterious black book that had been left on the table. It was, of course, a Bible. Back at home, the thief started turning the leaves and reading with interest. Gradually, he became convinced that here the secret of true happiness could be found. One day, he actually turned to God and confessed his sins. He felt assured of forgiveness by faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ. What should he do now? Return the Bible to its owner and tell his story. Thereupon, the two, the one robbed and the thief, thanked God in the selfsame room for making them brothers in Christ in such an amazing way. |

Open Heavens for Sunday, January 25, 2015 by Pastor E.A Adeboye EX-CHAMPION? Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More |
