Divine dealings

We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28.

Divine dealings
To understand and live out the truth of today’s verse we need to read it carefully.

We know. This is neither a supposition nor a wish, but a certainty regarding our love of God.

That all things. Our life and the various situations in which we are involved are not the result of chance, for our great God rules over everything (1 Chronicles 29:12).

Work together. It is through the wonderful coordination of divine providence that all things are so ordered for the accomplishment of God’s plan.

For good. Much initiative taken in our civilised world is opposed to God’s will, but God makes all the circumstances of believers’ lives lead to their good. God’s purposes surpass our comprehension and expectation. He utilises even our problems and our suffering for our good.

To those who love God. God loves everyone, but this promise is addressed especially to those who know Him as their Father and therefore love Him.

Who are the called according to his purpose. God calls on all to believe in His love; and those who have believed He has called to be eternally associated with Christ, their Saviour.
All that God allows to happen in our life is for a supreme, eternal purpose: to make us conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (cf. Romans 8:29).

Today's reading: Leviticus 5:14-19 · Psalms 51:12-19

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with God’s timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

BAD SOIL

For your request to be granted, you have to apply relevant keys. Many people desire financial breakthrough but are not prepared to apply the right key; unsurprisingly the door just won’t open. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says you must sow bountifully and if you don’t sow, do not expect a harvest. Do you know some...More

THE WAY OF ESCAPE

The Bible predicts that a lot of problems and calamities will befall the world as the judgment day approaches. For example, Prophet Joel in Joel 2:30-31, predicted that the Lord will show divers wonders in the cosmos and on earth:
“And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and...More
