Where is God’s dwelling?

God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Judgments are prepared for scoffers.

Hebrews 11:16; Proverbs 19:29.

Where is God’s dwelling?
First, a tabernacle (or: tent) erected in the desert, later a magnificent temple built in Jerusalem, these were God’s habitation when He dwelt among His people on earth.

But that is not His home. Paul says that “he dwells in unapproachable light” (1 Timothy 6:16). Jesus used another expression to signify it: “my Father’s house” (John 14:2). He knows it well, for it has ever been His dwelling place. There He was His God’s delight and will eternally be before Him in joyful communion, and He “rejoiced in his habitable world” (Proverbs 8:30.31). He already saw the earth inhabited by sinful human beings, who were lost, but whom He would save and make fit to dwell in the Father’s house. Therefore He told His disciples: “In my Father’s house are many mansions. … I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2). What a wonderful plan! It is much greater than what Hannah expressed: “He raises the poor from the dust … to make them inherit the throne of glory” (1 Samuel 2:8). It is the house of God, the happy home where all His characteristics of peace, love, and holiness are unfurled. The Father loves the Son who has glorified Him perfectly. The Son loves the Father, the redeemed are loved by both Father and Son and sing a new song in their praise.

Have you a place in the Father’s house already marked with your name?

Today's reading: Leviticus 14:14-32 · Psalms 61:1-8

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More
