October 8, 2015 Today's reading: Joel 2 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31 From our earliest childhood, we have been accustomed to making choices. These can concern everyday, insignificant matters, or such as affect our whole life like the choice of a profession or the person to marry. Making a conscious choice and taking the responsibility for it is an essential aspect of human life. This characteristic ability distinguishes him from all other creatures. This raises the question whether faith in God and Jesus Christ admits of the possibility of choice. In one sense it does, because Christ does not want a forced acceptance of Himself, but rather a willing response to His loving call. "Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He gives us the possibility to decide against accepting Him. However, as His creatures we are responsible to believe and obey our Creator-God. He has His rights over us, and everyone must one day account for his or her attitude towards Jesus Christ. Let us remember: because of our sins, our eternal future is at stake! Christ wishes to be our Saviour. A drowning man has really no choice but to grasp the lifebelt. If he decides against it, he cannot be rescued. |

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water" Bible in one year: Job...More |
