Today's reading: Numbers 1:1-21

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:4-5

A group of tourists, visiting a museum, is standing in front of a famous painting, a triptych depicting the last judgment. The guide is explaining some to the details: "The wicked persons on the left of the picture are being cast into hell, whereas the righteous enter paradise."
"The righteous? If that is the standard required," one tourist told his neighbour, "then I have no hope. What about you?"
"Me? Well, I'm not one of the wicked."
"So you are righteous then?"
"No, no, I didn't say that. Whoever could maintain that he has always been righteous?"
"That's just it! God says in the Bible: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one' But Jesus Christ came to die for wicked people, for the godless. If you don't want to be one of the wicked, then His atoning sacrifice won't benefit you. Yet that is the only way to make anyone righteous before God" (cf. ).
This conversation continued during the entire guided tour. Afterwards, the two tourists exchanged their addresses. Not long after, a telephone rang. The man's conscience had been pricked, and in his uneasy state, he asked, "What must I do to be saved?" He was given the answer, "Believe on the Son of God who died precisely for the wicked, which we all are. He bore the judgment that we all deserved."

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
