His kindness

For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
Isaiah 54:10

His kindness
To whom is today’s Bible passage addressed? To childless and lonely women, and to abandoned or widowed women in Israel. The fact that the Lord addresses them directly shows His personal interest in each individual who has fallen into such distressing life circumstances.

Even today, many people find themselves in tragic circumstances – sometimes through their own fault or sometimes through the fault of others. In any case, we cannot escape our misery without the Saviour, Jesus Christ. If we are ourselves to blame, we need forgiveness. If someone else has sinned against us, we need to be ready to forgive. But this is only possible thanks to the forgiveness that we ourselves have experienced from God.

Each of us must personally take the path of confession and forgiveness. But does that solve all our problems? You will soon realise that although your sins are forgiven, you still have to bear the consequences of your misconduct. They can cause you trouble and make life difficult. But especially then you are able to experience God as your merciful one, who stands by you in your difficulties and comes to your aid in His eternal goodness.

You will experience what Jeremiah expresses:

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

(Lamentations 3:22–23)

Today’s reading: Job 9:1-35 · Acts 8:1-13

However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
