Endure and forgive

Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
Colossians 3:13

Endure and forgive
Weakness and sin are two problems that arise again and again in the collective life of believers. When there is weakness, we are called to bear with one another. When sin occurs, we are to forgive one another.

– Weakness manifests itself in our individual human characteristics. Some are over-cautious while others react hastily. Some talk a lot while others are almost always silent. Some are quick while others are slow. These differences often trouble us. We are bothered by our fellow Christians because they are different from us in manner and behaviour. But this should not be. Instead, the apostle exhorts us to bear with the weaknesses of our brothers and sisters in faith. At the same time, we shouldn’t forget that we ourselves possess special characteristics that demand patience from others.

– Sin among believers puts a strain on our relationship with one another. Therefore, when someone has wronged us, we should be ready to forgive. However, for forgiveness to be complete, there must be confession. Until this happens, we can adopt a forgiving attitude in our hearts. We find the strength for this in the Lord Jesus. When we came to Him with the confession of our sins, He forgave them all. If He has forgiven us so much, let us also be ready to forgive.

Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 2:12-26 · Mark 5:1-14

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
