What message do the sects bring?

Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Matthew 23:10; 1 Timothy 2:5-6

What message do the sects bring?
Occasionally we encounter people in the street, or they knock on our front doors, wanting to speak to us. At such times, particularly when we wish to examine the claim of a religious group to adhere to the truth, we need to ask a few important questions.
In whose name have you come? Is it solely in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as the Bible presents Him? Christ is the eternal God, the Creator not a creature. He became Man, died and rose again (cf. Romans 9:5; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4):
What are you bringing? As a human being I have a conscience and a heart. My conscience requires truth, peace and certainty, for one day I shall have to answer to God for my life. Are you bringing me God’s forgiveness? Then my heart needs love. Can you speak to me of someone who loves me as I am? Are you bringing the good news of Jesus, the Son of God “who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20)?
What is your authority? Is it exclusively the Bible? It is the Word that God has given man, the only basis for faith and the Christian’s hope.
Are you yourself perfectly happy? Time and again one hears from former members of sects: “Sects bind you to a yoke. They demand loyal service and money.” Faith in Jesus Christ liberates and brings eternal joy.
Today’s reading: Acts 14
