God said, … and it happened

God said; Let there be light; and there was light.God who commanded light to shine out of darkness has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:6

God said, and it happened
The first chapter of Genesis shows majestically the birth of the universe. It is like a magnificent panorama, a series of seven scenes that suddenly appear at God's creative command. "He spoke, and it was done" (Psalm 33:9). At the powerful voice of our Creator God light appeared. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible" (Hebrews 11:3). And as the crown upon everything, man was created in the image of God.

Alas! That so beautiful creation was spoilt by the entrance of sin into the world (cf. Romans 5:12) with its train of sufferings, countless evils and death. So God sent Jesus, His only begotten Son, to introduce by means of His cross a "new creation" in which peace, righteousness and love characterise regenerate man. But if, at the power of a single word from God, the universe came into being, the death of the Son of God on the cross was necessary to atone for sin and wipe it out before God. Unfathomable mystery!

The same word that created the worlds made a new light shine on us, that of His love. Receiving that light means believing in Jesus. It Him it shines brightly, attracting us to Him.

Soon that light will be perfectly manifested in the new heavens and the new earth, where God, who is light and love, will dwell with man.

Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 18:1-17 · Psalm 89:29-38

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
