Every day is useful

All things work together for good to those who love God.

It will be well with those who fear God.

Romans 8: 28; Ecclesiastes 8: 12.

Every day is useful
When we are passing through difficult times, we may be able to keep a stiff upper lip as we await better days. We do not wish for these times of testing. However, God permits them to teach us lessons that we would not learn otherwise. How could we, for example, experience His comfort, if we have never been sad?

The Lord Jesus has promised those whom He has redeemed the peace that gives our conscience rest (John 14:27) and the peace that fills our heart through accepting His will, whatever it be. By trusting Him, we can consider each day, whether pleasing or difficult, as a gift from Him, a fresh opportunity to know Him as the One who wishes to share our joys and our troubles. In every circumstance of our life let us seek to see the loving hand of our God and understand His purpose.

In John’s gospel (ch. 15: 1 – 8) Jesus compares His Father’s dealings with His children with the work of a vine-dresser pruning His vines. The use of the secateurs may be painful but the vine-grower’s intention is to strengthen the vine so that it bears more fruit. So it is with us, too. God does not cause needless suffering among His children. Every trial has its purpose: “He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men” (Lamentations 3:33).

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land – a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham,...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More
