Who is God?

There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none besides me.
Isaiah 45: 21.

Who is God?
The only true, living God has revealed Himself, so that we human beings might come to know Him.

In creation He shows us His omnipotence and wisdom. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork” (Psalm 19:2). Unbelief seeks for human explanations of the wonders of nature. Faith, on the other hand, takes God at His word and acknowledges that the world originated through the Creator’s authoritative command.

When our conscience nags us after a wrong deed, we sense that God is holy and condemns what is wicked. Unbelief, however, attempts to excuse the injustice committed, so as to silence the admonishing voice of the conscience.

In the Bible we learn that God sent His Son to earth out of love towards us, because He wished to solve the problem of our guilt before Him through the death of the Saviour Jesus Christ. Unbelief rejects any thought of redemption in Jesus Christ by seeking righteousness before God by its own means, refusing God’s grace through pride. Faith, however, rejoices over divine love that offers salvation from eternal condemnation. In gratitude it avails itself of the Saviour’s death on the cross, knowing that He died for those who believe on Him.

Faith is a living power from heaven
Which grasps the promise God has given;
Securely fixed on Christ alone,
A trust that cannot be o’erthrown.
