Was it so serious?

Just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.

The Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Was it so serious?
Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit. Sin thus entered the world, and with it suffering and death. Some people object: "All that just for eating fruit! Was it so serious?"

The implications of that deed really were immense. In fact, by surrounding Adam and Eve with wonderful signs of His goodness, God gave them every reason to trust Him, and by prohibiting them from eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, He was clearly warning them of the consequences: "In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
