Adventure attracted the young man after his classical studies. He...

that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
Act 17: 27.

Adventure attracted the young man after his classical studies. He planned to cycle across North America from east to west. That extensive land both enraptured and dispirited him. As he rode for miles along the highways of Canada and only occasionally met a car or was overtaken, severe loneliness overcame him, and he fell into periods of depression.

Going along lonely roads through thick forests, he suddenly realised that there is a God in heaven. He could not explain how the impression arose. He had heard nothing of it at home; now, however, he sensed God's presence, and that calmed him down. The young man spoke to Him. He prayed for the first time in his life, and God heard him.

No great or remarkable things happened on his journey, yet he experienced God's preservation and help. Every evening he found a roof over his head somewhere. The tent he had made himself failed to keep the rain out. And in that season it rained heavily in Canada. Whenever he had trouble with his cycle, there were kind people to assist him. Somehow he felt himself under God's protection and totally secure. This experience bewildered him.

Several years passed before he recognised that God not only wanted to show him His goodness for his earthly life. He realised that God wanted to save him from his sins and the punishment for them and grant him eternal life. One night he grasped the fact that God had been seeking him and patiently following him all the time.

As he told me the foregoing story, his joy was all too evident.

Today‘s reading: 1 Kings 3: 1 - 28 · John 4: 43 - 54

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More

A spiritual treasure had been entrusted to the apostle Paul that he wished to share with the Christians in Rome. It did not come from his own abilities or knowledge. What he wished to impart to them he had himself received...More
