The Alpha and the Omega

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Revelation 1: 8; 22: 13.

The Alpha and the Omega
Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, omega the last one. When God says that He is the Alpha and the Omega, it means that He is the origin of this world’s history and that He will preside at its disappearance. He spoke in order to create the universe: “The worlds were framed by the word of God” (Hebrews 11:3). And when time gives way to eternity, He will again speak and say, “It is done” (Revelation 21:6).

There was a beginning of all things visible. They appeared at the voice of the Almighty. They will come to an end to give way to what we today, in our human condition, cannot behold. This new, eternal creation will be introduced by the same voice. All the tumult and agitation of man’s long history, his sighs. his cries, his tears and his singing take place between this alpha and omega.

“But the word of the LORD stands for ever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Science attempts to explain the past. It also tries to foresee the future, but succeeds only partially. Holy Scripture alone sheds light on our origin and destiny, on what was before the beginning and what will be after the end of our universe.

“The word of the LORD endures for ever” (1 Peter 1: 25). Let us not neglect to get to know it and to listen to Him who created us!

Today‘s reading: 1 Kings 11: 14 – 25 · John 8: 48 – 59

WAIT ON THE SPIRIT

In Judges 15:14-15, when Samson was brought to his enemies bound, the Holy Spirit came mightily upon him and he began to level them one after the other. But you may want to ask: What were the others looking at while their colleagues were being killed? It happened this way because when the supernatural of God is...More

BORN FOR A PURPOSE

One of the things you must endeavour to know is God’s purpose for your life. You were born for a purpose. You are not an accident. You are a product of divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding. The Almighty God does nothing arbitrarily. In everything He does, he is known for clear cut purposes. He knows where...More

WHEN THE FIRE FALLS II

Many Christians are frustrated, defeated and fruitless. Many of them are wallowing in spiritual poverty and helplessness because they are unaware of the power behind their calling. The wonderful truth is: every Christian has the potential to live supernaturally. The Holy Spirit is the Commander-in-Chief of the army of...More
