A remedy for loneliness

The disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

I am with you always.

John 20: 20; Matthew 28: 20.

A remedy for loneliness
The media are able to transmit the countless items of news to everyone in a flash. Technology offers innumerable possibilities of private communication. Yet one constantly hears of people suffering from loneliness.

Two persons who found in Jesus Christ someone who is ever close by them speak of their experience of something vastly different:

"Jesus is the only One with whom I can exchange thoughts in any situation. He understands me fully. I have occasionally hesitated to tell Him of insignificant details of my life. But my experience has shown me that He never fails to take care of me."

An invalid, bed-ridden through a handicap wrote this: "Christ has made me able to accept my suffering. He has taken all rebellion and bitterness from me and granted me patience in their place. Since then I have peace and joy in my heart, besides my admiration for the way he has achieved this in my life. I am no longer self-centred. Even though I am forced to lie on my back, there is so much I can do for and with Christ."

The Lord Jesus Christ has not promised those who trust in Him a life void of difficulties. But His presence fills the vacuum and satisfies the longing for fellowship. This joy and peace in Christ is often noticeable particularly in Christians whose health has suffered or who have lost their possessions. They have sought and found their joy in Christ.

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 4: 17 - 31 · John 18: 1 - 11
