In a house in Capernaum Jesus Christ was teaching before...

They were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.
Luke 5: 26.

In a house in Capernaum Jesus Christ was teaching before prominent Jewish personages from the province of Galilee and from Jerusalem. Inside the house were many people, so many that four men could not penetrate the crowd to bring their paralysed friend to Jesus. So they climbed on to the flat roof, made an opening and let the lame man down on his portable bed to where Jesus was standing. The Saviour amazed those present by saving, “Man, your sins are forgiven you” (v. 20). The scribes and Pharisees considered that blasphemy, for God alone can forgive sins. Their knowledge of God was in order, their conclusion was wrong, however.

The Lord Jesus can indeed forgive sins because He is God the Son. That they would not admit.

From this occurrence we learn that Jesus goes to the root of a matter. He forgave the lame man’s sins before healing him to deliver him from his hopeless situation. Our greatest problem, too, is not what restricts us physically or mentally, but our sins that separate us eternally from God, if they are not forgiven. The good news is that the Lord Jesus can and will forgive sins. But we must recognise that we are guilty before God and confess our sins to Him, believing that Christ paid our debt of guilt at the cross.

How did the people react then? They said, “We have seen strange things today.” That they could not deny. Refusing to acknowledge that He is the Son of God is nothing new today. But we shall become as happy as that lame man only if we believe in the Son of God, as the Bible presents Him: He “departed to his own house, glorifying God” (v. 25).

Thank God for where you are and what you have achieved. But thank God much more for where He is taking you to. You will fulfil His divine...More

ANY QUERY FROM SATAN?

A divine midwife must be in control of his or her choices and ensure that they are God-centred and not self-centred. They must be ready to take decisions even when it hurts them. They must also be prepared to respond to Satans queries.

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto...More

A WORD ON CLEAVING TO THE LORD (2)

He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

A WORD ON CLEAVING TO THE LORD (2)

Observe, they are exhorted with purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord. A distracted heart is the bane of a Christian. When my heart is filled with...More
