This verse appears to be a truism. As far back as...

He (God) makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5: 45.

This verse appears to be a truism. As far back as we can remember, sun and rain, which are so necessary for our life, have never failed. There have been periods of drought in some parts of the earth, or floods in other areas, but principally this statement is clearly true.

Nor can there be any doubt about the second part of the quotation. Even wicked and unjust persons experience the benefit of sun and rain.

It is the nut of the verse, "He makes", that causes uneasiness or outright opposition. If the laws of nature work, why bring God into it? Let us ask a counter-question: who created and controls these extraordinarily complex procedures?

Since the beginning of creation our great God governs sunshine and rainfall, . Seen in this light, we are aware that behind these vital natural phenomena there is a deeper meaning.

God is still in command, whatever men may think. Some rebel against Him, others deny His existence. Yet God still allows the sun to shine and the rain to fall.

If we were to deal in such a way with our opponents, must we not admire God's patience with His rebellious creatures? Is it not a proof of God's goodness to us all?

"The Lord is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
