Pride prevented me from repenting

Do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Romans 2: 4.

Pride prevented me from repenting
“In my childhood I had a Christian upbringing. Outwardly I appeared to be a Christian, even in the eyes of believers. I wasn’t ashamed to tell my friends that I was an “evangelical Christian”, but I was still lost and far from God. At night I often had nightmares that terrorised me. Eternity without God frightened me, because I knew that I was a sinner before Him and that He did not receive sinners in heaven. I considered the sense of life and came to the conclusion that I was leading a useless life. I wondered, “What is the good of this life? It is senseless because everything passes away.” I had never made a firm decision in my heart, but my need to believe in Christ increased.

One evening, therefore, having once more heard the invitation to accept Jesus as my personal Saviour, being convicted of sin, I decided to repent of my wrongdoings and believe in Christ. I admitted my sins and asked God’s forgiveness, praying that He would make me His child. The pride that for years had hindered me from repenting of my wrongs and humbling myself before God had vanished with His help. Immediately I felt a burden fall from my shoulders, and great joy and peace entered my heart. I tasted God’s goodness and from that moment was certain that I was saved. That is how my life in Christ began. The Lord was with me, strengthening me in the faith.”

Protect The ‘New Shoots’

‘There is hope for a tree: if it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.’ Job 14:7 NIV

It takes God’s wisdom to find a mate who can fit where you are and go where you’re going. If you choose using only your own wisdom, you might not make the best choice. And when...More
