The return of the Lord Jesus Christ is the hope, the...

Behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me, to give to everyone according to his work.

that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Revelation 22: 12; 1 Thessalonians 3: 13.

The return of the Lord Jesus Christ is the hope, the sure expectation of the Christian. Paul speaks of a "good" and "blessed" hope (; Titus 2: 13), Peter of a "living" hope.

This hope should fill our hearts and cause us rejoicing. We are not waiting for something great to happen in the world. We expect our Lord to come and take us into the Father's house (John 14: 3). The coming of the Lord Jesus will take place in two phases: the first is His coming for His own, the rapture (1 Corinthians 15: 51.52; 1 Thessalonians 4: 15 - 17). It is an act of grace: before terrible judgments begin on this earth, the Lord will take us to heaven (cf. 1 Thessalonians 1: 10; Revelation 3: 10).

The second phase is the Lord's coming to earth with His own to execute judgment and establish His kingdom in power and glory. This event is connected with our responsibility: the reward that we shall receive at the judgment seat of Christ will then be seen by all (cf. 1 Thessalonians 2: 19; 1 John 2: 28; Colossians 3: 4).

Is not the fact that we, who were dead in trespasses and sins and will then reign with Christ and share His glory, overpowering? This very thought must cause us to bring worship and thanks to Him who loved us and gave Himself for us!

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 19: 25 - 37 · 1 John 5: 13 - 21

Know When To Say Nothing

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue.' Isaiah 50:4 NIV

Isaiah writes: The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.'

Let's face it;...More
