Does the resurrection make you afraid?

There are celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies, but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
1 Corinthians 15: 40 - 43.

Does the resurrection make you afraid?
"There is one thing that I just cannot accept: it is the resurrection. How can you expect a body destined to decomposition or reduced to cinders to break free one day as a new body indwelt by the same person? That seems to me complete nonsense."

"You fool! That is precisely what the Bible calls someone who asks such questions. Explain to me how from a cocoon enclosing a repulsive caterpillar, after being dead for some weeks, a superb butterfly can emerge. The same insect! Do you understand that? I don't!"

This tiny miracle is repeated before our eyes countless times every spring and is a testimony to the genius of the One who conceived this unbelievable metamorphosis. Is that a problem for the One who, I know, has stored my entire genetic programme in thousands of millions of cells in my body? Is it a problem for the body to be restored in a new condition and in another universe free from sin and death?

"I'll tell you why you have such difficulty in accepting the resurrection. It implies a life beyond the grave, and that is what causes your fear, and rightly so. You will one day have to account for your life to the Creator, who today is offering to be your Saviour."

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 20: 12 - 21 · 3 John 1 - 8

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
