We had known the lady for a long time. As an...

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32.

We had known the lady for a long time. As an old acquaintance she fetched her calendar from our bookstall every year.

When we got into conversation with her this year, she confided to us that she tried to sin as little as possible. "That's certainly a good attitude," I replied and asked her whether she did not in fact sin from time to time. She admitted that she sometimes told a white lie. I asked her, "And then? What do you do about that sin? You can't appear before our holy God like that." Embarrassed, she then gave vent to her thoughts: "Until this morning I was quite content with myself, but now you make me feel uneasy with your questions!"

Is that the case with others, too? They are satisfied with themselves, especially compared with others, but when they learn what God is really like, they are shocked and become restless.

If any of our readers feel that the constant mention of sin and guilt disturbs them, then we must assure them: that is the very purpose of this calendar!

Just as the doctor's medicine may taste bitter, or the physiotherapist hurts us, their aim is to restore our health. So, too, we should like to confront you with the truth about yourself, but also to tell you of God's love and grace at the same time.

Everyone must recognise that he is lost before God. But he must also know that God has prepared salvation in and through His Son Jesus Christ. Still today He spreads out His arms to welcome lovingly anyone who acknowledges his lost state and confesses it to Him.

Today‘s reading: Ezekiel 39: 1 - 29 · Psalms 139: 13 - 24

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
