Today’s reading: Isaiah chs. 34 & 35

Come to me, all you who labour and heavy laden and l will give you rest
Matthew 11:28

This is one of the best known saying of the Lord Jesus Christ .But who wants to be classed as someone laboring or heavy laden? We all tend more to try to get along with our personal troubles and our quilt rather than admit,”l feel down.”

Perhaps you are a person whose life cannot be faulted and you enjoy a good reputation, so that with such an admission you would have a lot to lose. You have to be a leader in your surroundings, and yet sense inside you that something is lacking.
Then you are in good company with Nicodemus, a highly respectable man of the ruling class in the Jewish nation, it was no different.
He feared for his reputation, so he went to Jesus at night(cf John 3:1-21). That he didn’t show more courage is regrettable, but it was better than not going at all, as his latter life showed.
Respectable persons like Nicodemus also need to know Jesus and his salvation. Through the bible they can meet him. especially in the four gospels.
Or perhaps you are a person who has experienced many failures and has little to lose. The Son of God died on the cross for such people. He is waiting for you. Kneel down and pray to him, confessing your life’s guilt. Even if it means tears don’t be ashamed!
Everyone can come to know Christ through the bible. There is only one bible and one message of salvation for all, for all have sinned and can be justified only by the grace of God and faith of Jesus Christ(cf Romans 3:23-24)

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
(Luke 24:26-27)

Jeremiah 1:9 NIV

The people God calls usually start out feeling ill-equipped and insecure. Indeed, if you jumped and said, ‘No problem, Lord, I can handle that,’ He wouldn’t call you at all. You say, ‘but...More
