Paul White was a missionary doctor in the land known today as...

As the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself (Jesus) likewise shared in the same, that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Hebrews 2:14.15.

Paul White was a missionary doctor in the land known today as Tanzania. One evening a whirlwind blew over the steppe and damaged the roof of the men’s ward. White described it as follows:

“Two Africans lay in the ward with broken legs. One was almost healed and could already walk about, but the other was still wearing a stiff plaster cast. When the cyclone tore off the roof and a piece of corrugated iron fell into the room, the first patient crept under his bed screaming and only re-appeared an hour later. James, the other invalid, stayed calmly in his bed. He was clearly not afraid.

When the danger had passed, the first one crept out. “I thought my last hour had come,” he said. “I was convinced the iron would cut me in half. And wasn’t the wind howling like a thousand devils?”

“Yes, it was,” said James, “but since I know Jesus Christ I’m not afraid of a thousand devils, as I know that He is waiting for me on the other side. I belong to Him.” – “How do you know that?” the first one asked. – “I’ve read it in God’s book. Jesus said: ʻThe one who comes to me I will by no means cast out.ʼ I asked Him to take away my sins, and He did. That’s all in this book,” as James pointed to the New Testament by his pillow.

“And that took away your fear of death?” the first one asked again. – “Well, I didn’t creep under the bed, did I?” James retorted.

From the beginning, the devil’s modus operandi has been to sow the seeds of doubt in the heart of mankind with regards to the plan and intentions of God for them. For example, while God’s reason for restraining Adam and Eve from eating the forbidden fruit was to keep them alive, healthy and prosperous, the devil...More
