Anne is feeling uneasy this evening. She lives in a remotely situated house. Her husband and son left the house in the morning. Now a heavy storm has forced her to seek other accommodation for the night.

The thought of having to spend the night alone only increases Anne's fear. Doubtful figures have been roaming about the neighbourhood recently. So Anne knelt down and asked God for protection. She had not finished praying when she heard barking outside. She opened the front door, and a neighbour's dog ran in covered with snow. It went straight to the stove, lay down and looked at her, as if it wanted to say understandingly, "Have no fear: I'll keep watch." Thankful, Anne went to bed and fell asleep peacefully.

The next morning her neighbours told her that their dog had never left the place where it sleeps for years. But the night before they had tried for two hours in vain to keep it in the house. Finally they had to let it out to be able to sleep themselves. The creature had run straight to Anne's house.

God our Creator can even use an animal to answer His children's prayers.

God knows our needs beforehand. He has the answer to our prayers ready, before we have even formulated them. Hadn't the dog been restless for two hours before Anne prayed? For Anne God's help came at precisely the right moment. Read Hebrews 4:16!
