Some people form an over-hasty judgment on the...

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
Romans 1:16.

Some people form an over-hasty judgment on the gospel, God's message to mankind: "It is ineffective. There are still murderers and deceivers!"

Well, imagine a firm that produces lawn-mowers. The firm grows, and the managing director holds talks with customers and suppliers. The site of the firm is well looked after, but directly next to it is a large neglected area overgrown with weeds, a real eyesore, but an eye-catcher for all who visit the firm. Some visitors remark ironically: "The lawn-mowers are good, but they clearly can't cope with the weeds next door!" The managing director constantly explains, "Unfortunately we can neither purchase nor even enter that site. If we could, our mowers would show their prowess. But they won't let us!"

This is precisely the case with the gospel. If it is allowed to work in people's lives, when it is heard and received, it alters hearts, for it is "the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." But if someone has signified: "No entry!", and the gospel cannot penetrate, things will remain as they are.

Permit me to ask: How do things stand with you? Do you refuse Jesus Christ entry, or have you allowed Him in as your Lord and Saviour? "As many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name" (John 1:12).

Today's reading: Isaiah 35:1-36:22 · Hebrews 3:1-6

However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
