When we look for something, we are usually concerned to...

Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near.

Seek the LORD , seek his face evermore.

Isaiah 55:6; Psalm 105:4.

When we look for something, we are usually concerned to find something lost or hidden - preferably for all time. Seeking can, however, have another meaning, e.g. desiring or striving for something.

In a happy marriage both meanings apply: the husband and wife have sought and found their partner for life. They are happy and need not seek any more. But because they love each other, they constantly seek their company, which strengthens their relationship and their joy.

The living God is equally concerned about a strong, happy relationship with each of His creatures. But the original relationship was ruined by sin. Selfish interests captivated the first human beings, so that they lost sight of their Creator. Consequently, we must seek God, not by searching incessantly or groping in the mist of uncertainty; we have simply to change our attitude radically and fundamentally.

Whoever is converted and turns to God is grateful for the forgiveness of his sins. He rejoices over the "peace with God" that he enjoys (Romans 5:1). He is overwhelmed by God's love and the blessing that He grants His children day by day. He has "found" God, once for all time. Nevertheless, for this very reason he continues seeking God's face through prayer, for example.

Today's reading: Isaiah 65:13-25 · Mark 3:20-35

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
