For many years a professor of bionics has been travelling in...

Marvellous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:14.

For many years a professor of bionics has been travelling in the desert, searching for mechanisms in nature that will provide examples suitable for technical application. His endurance paid off when the explorer combed the ground on the edge of the Sahara desert one night with a searchlight: he discovered a spider that can form a wheel with its eight legs. It enables the spider not only to roll down the dune passively, but also to accelerate its rolling motion by manipulating its legs.

The professor recognised thereby the stimulus for a vehicle that could both run and travel – an ideal chassis for certain missions, e.g. on Mars.

Amazing discoveries in nature have often led present-day scientists to praise the Creator for His works.

“I wonder why God placed man on our globe, on which he sees nothing other than his surroundings of wondrously arranged nature. For what other purpose than to praise and admire the invisible Master for His glorious work?”

(Carl von Linné, biologist)

“To produce any organised existence demands the conscious activity of the eternal Master-builder, whose masterpiece we designate as nature.”

(Angelo Secchi, astronomer)

“The knowledge of nature is the way to admire the greatness of the Creator. … Everything that the most prolific imagination and highest intelligence can think out seems, when compared with reality, but a colourful, shiny soap bubble.”

(Justus von Liebig, chemist)

Today’s reading: Haggai 2:15-23 · Mark 12:1-12

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More
