Thoughts on the Gospel of John (72)

His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that he was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. Therefore his parents said, He is of age; ask him. So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, Give God the glory! We know that this man is a sinner. He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.
John 9:22-25.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (72)
The blind man’s parents feared the religious leaders and referred them back to their son for further interrogation: “He is of age: ask him!” What a remarkable similarity to the representatives of professing Christians in our days! They simply bow to the prevailing opinion of unbelievers or higher critics, instead of studying the Bible. Whoever reveres God and His Word will not be intimidated by human beings and their threats, if it is a question of the truth.

The healed man was to give God the glory and agree with the Pharisees that the person who had performed the healing was a sinner. But the man avoided this subtle catch question by simply repeating the one point that for him was absolutely certain. Unable to debate on a subject outside his competence to judge, the healed man made his point and left it at that.

What do we learn from that man? When we know that God has performed a work on us, making a “new man” of us, we should courageously testify it accordingly, even if we are inferior to many a critic of the Bible in intelligence or education.

Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their...More

No doubt, life in a sense is like the sea. A characteristic of the sea is that storms of varying degrees arise, putting the lives of those sailing on it in jeopardy of being drowned. In Jesus’ Name, the storms of life will not be able to drown you, your family and your business. While literal storms are natural...More

Kinds Of Evangelism

Luke 24:48 'And ye are witnesses of these things.'

LUKE 24:48
One of the great mistakes of the modern church is to think that evangelism is something done within the four walls of the church building. Acts 8:1-4 makes it apparent that evangelism was not done by the pastor or clergy...More
