However could this happen?

The word preaching peace through Jesus Christ you know: Jesus went about doing good, for God was with him.
Acts 10:36-39.

However could this happen?
Christmas is the festival of the year for many. But Jesus is absent. One historian even rejoiced that Christmas had become what it originally was: a heathen feast without God.

You must have heard of Jesus Christ. Who is the Man after whom the years A.D. (Anno Domini - in the year of the Lord) have been numbered since His coming?

It is true that His birth took place discreetly. The only ones informed at the time were shepherds, poor, anonymous people and wise men with some knowledge of astronomy from foreign parts. This secrecy about Jesus continued for the first 30 years of His life apart from a brief episode during which his parents sought Him everywhere (cf. Luke 2:44.45).

Then, after some years passing through the land of Israel, He died at the age of 33. He had been followed by a few disciples and a crowd attracted by His miracles and the message of love and freedom that He preached with unequalled power and authority on behalf of God His Father. But Jesus died despised and shamefully. He who should have been a king was crowned with thorns. His throne was a cross, an instrument of torture; His court a crowd who insulted and mocked Him. And His followers? They deserted Him at the time. He was destined for oblivion. The authorities considered Him a trouble-maker or an agitator, and thought they had done with Him.

Was that really so? Just what do you think?

Today's reading: Zechariah 13:1-14:5 · Mark 15:1-15
