A Spiritual Checkup (1)

‘…The Lord searches every heart and understands every motive…’
1 Chronicles 28:9

The Psalmist prayed, ‘Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting’ (Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV). If you’re wise you’ll visit your doctor and get regular physical checkups. You’ll also go to God for regular spiritual checkups. In what areas? 1) Your salvation. ‘If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new’ (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). Was there ever a time in your life when you repented of your sin and placed your trust in Jesus to save you? Have you surrendered to Him and made Him Lord of your life? 2) Your devotional life. ‘I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day’ (Psalms 119:97). ‘Your Word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it’ (v. 140 NKJV). Do you read and meditate on God’s Word each day? Are your personal devotions consistent and meaningful? Do you try to apply the principles of Scripture to each circumstance you’re in? 3) Your humility. God says: ‘…I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones’ (Isaiah 57:15 NKJV). Are you quick to recognise and agree with God when you have sinned? Are you quick to admit to others when you are wrong? Can you rejoice at others’ successes even when yours goes unnoticed? Do you esteem others as better than yourself? (Romans 12:10). Do you live with a sense of dependence on God?

BAD SOIL

For your request to be granted, you have to apply relevant keys. Many people desire financial breakthrough but are not prepared to apply the right key; unsurprisingly the door just won’t open. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says you must sow bountifully and if you don’t sow, do not expect a harvest. Do you know some...More

GOD OF PURPOSE

Our God is a God of purpose. He created man for a purpose. He declared His purpose for man even before creating him in His own image. The Bible in Genesis 1:26 says,
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl...More

If you are willing, you can make me clean (1)

And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy...More

Forgive Your Parents (1)

‘Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.’ Ephesians 4:32 ESV

There is nothing worse than the pain some parents can inflict on their kids. Often it stems from ignorance, but that doesn’t lessen the hurt when you’re on the receiving...More
