Thailand's prime minister on Friday ordered an investigation into a massive blaze that tore through a crowded music pub, killing at least 14 people — including a singer who was performing when the fire broke out near the stage.

A polar bear attacked a campsite Monday in Norway's remote Arctic Svalbard Islands, injuring a French tourist, authorities said, adding that the wounds weren't life-threatening.

The woman, who wasn't identified, was part of a tour group of 25 people who were camping at Sveasletta, in the central part of the Svalbard archipelago, which sits more than 500 miles north of the Norwegian mainland. The new trend bringing in big bucks is car flipping.

Dennis Wang bought a brand new Tesla five months ago. But the offer he recently got from a dealer was too good to pass up — $101,000. Wang paid $87,000 for his new Tesla in March.

"Absolutely insane! Mind blowing!" Wang said.

Eddie Gribust flipped his Tesla for $5,000 more than he paid for it.

"In the last two years, I've been driving brand new cars and I have not lost a cent on them," he said.

Typically, cars lose more than 20% of their value the first year on the road, according to Edmunds.com. But since the pandemic began, used car prices are actually up 53%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics....More

Terrifying study links risk of over 200 infectious diseases to climate hazards like flooding, heat waves and drought

Climate hazards such as flooding, heat waves and drought have worsened more than half of the hundreds of known infectious diseases in people, including malaria, hantavirus, cholera and anthrax, a study says.

Researchers looked through the medical literature of established cases of illnesses and found that 218 out of the known 375 human infectious diseases, or 58%, seemed to be made worse by one of 10 types of extreme weather connected to climate change, according to a study published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

Comedian Jay Leno has openly shared that while collecting two salaries — one from his ‘Tonight Show’ hosting gig and one from the 150 annual comedy shows he’d appear in — he never spent any of his ‘Tonight Show’ salary and instead only spent what he made doing stand-up. “I’d bank one, and I’d spend one,” the TV star told CNBC in 2016. “I’ve never touched a dime of my ‘Tonight Show’ money. Ever.”

Okay, but Leno’s rich, you might be tempted to say. Still, pros say that this ‘spend one, save one’ philosophy may be able to work for some families. “This idea is a really smart behavioral finance approach to handling income for a two-income family. One of the most tragic scenes from the 1997 movie Titanic depicts an elderly couple who quietly tuck themselves into bed and wait for death together as the ship begins to flood. The warning came as Taiwan's military conducted its own exercises, clearly intended to show readiness to defend against any Chinese invasion.
