Enoch: a Beautiful Example

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Hebrews 11:5

Enoch: a Beautiful Example
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, was a faithful witness in his day. When he was sixty-five years old, he had a son and called his name Methuselah. This made a deep impression on Enoch, for we read that after Methuselah was born then Enoch walked with God until God took Enoch away without seeing death. During his comparatively short life, walking in communion with God, Enoch felt keenly the downward trend of the whole human race, even though the first man, Adam, was living in that same time period together with Enoch for about 300 years.

Although Enoch saw the ungodliness all around him, he walked in separation from it. His eyes were opened, and he testified against it. God does not leave Himself without a witness (Acts 14:17), and Enoch was His witness at this time. The prophecy of Jude still awaits fulfillment until this day, although it is fast approaching (Jude 14–15).

In Hebrews 11, the Spirit of God sums up the life of Enoch in one short verse. He brought pleasure to the heart of God. “Enoch walked with God” (Gen. 5:22). While Enoch was still alive, he had the assurance that he would be spared from the day of judgment. By faith, Enoch was enjoying the coming moment when he would be taken away to dwell with the One above, with whom he had walked below.

The story of Enoch is a beautiful example for us today. Through Christ who gave Himself for our sins, we have been delivered from the present evil age—the same as in Enoch’s day. The challenge for us today is to walk in fellowship with God, separated practically from this world and its ungodly ways. Our hope is “to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who deliverers us from the wrath to come” (1 Th. 1:10).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE

Read:
.
The essence of the anointing of God in your life is not for show but for service. Service is a fundamental aspect of leadership. The moment you remove service from your life, there is no room for good leadership. People should see the good example you are showing and praise God for your life....More

Apollo 15

You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain. You are the same, and your years will not fail.
