Light in the darkness

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.
Isaiah 9:2

Light in the darkness
December is the darkest month of the year in Europe. Many people try to fill these days with light. How soothing it is to sit in a brightly lit living room in the evening! Others love to spend a cosy evening by candlelight.

There is also moral darkness in life. People who do not seek God, who pursue their own desires and are in Satan’s sphere of power, live in darkness. This was the case in Israel before Jesus Christ was born. This people lived in darkness and in the land of the shadow of death. But when the Son of God became man, a bright light began to shine.

He declared to the people, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12). This light is still needed by everyone today. But it only illuminates those who personally believe in the Lord Jesus and receive Him into their heart.

Jesus Christ made this possible by dying on the cross. Because His blood was shed, this sacrifice is available for all, so that you may step out of darkness into light through faith in Him and His work of redemption. Christians can testify that the Lord Jesus has brought them to the wonderful light of God’s presence. Isn’t this an incentive to open your heart to Him?

Today’s reading: The Song of Solomon 5:2-16 · Mark 9:1-13

But they forget that...More

Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject.
