Wonderfully Wise Maker

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all. Psalm 104:24

Today's Scripture
Psalm 104:24-34

Today's Devotion
Juanita stuck her needle into a square piece of white cloth, then stretched the blue thread through the material. For three days, her hands moved, steadily and slowly creating and tightening each small, colorful stitch. Two clusters of three blossoms—pink dogwood flowers with leaves—were sewn on each side of a royal-blue peacock with wings several shades of green. Juanita created the same images on another napkin—or servilleta—for my sister, a gift to honor our mom. Her handmade Mexican embroideries are beautiful and unique.

Many admire the handcrafted, custom works of art created by embroiderers like Juanita. Yet with incomparable wisdom, it’s God who makes us and enables our capacities to create. The writer of Psalm 104 praised God’s endless and matchless creativity. He sang, “How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all” (v. 24). God made the sea, “teeming with creatures beyond number” (v. 25). He even made the Leviathan (v. 26), a mysterious beast we can only imagine with wonder. All creatures depend on God, and He cares for everything He made (vv. 27-30).

When we consider all this, we can only begin to marvel at the extent of His wisdom, creativity, and care. The wonderfully wise maker of all things is worthy of all worship and praise for as long as we live (v. 33).

Reflect & Pray
How can you celebrate God’s creativity and care? How has God used art and His creativity in creation to spark your desire to praise Him?

Dear God, thank You for creating and caring for all You’ve made in perfect wisdom.

Today's Insights
Psalm 104 celebrates God as creator of all things. The Bible KnowledgeCommentary says: “This psalm portrays the Lord’s power, wisdom, and goodness to all Creation. The psalmist spoke of God’s stretching out the heavens in light, His sovereign control of the deep, His adorning the earth as a dwelling place for man, His arranging night and day for life, and His preparing the sea for its life.” Creation bears witness to God’s greatness and summons us to give Him praise (19:1). The apostle Paul wrote, “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made” (Romans 1:20). As we observe all that God has made, we can join the psalmist in praising Him: “I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live” (Psalm 104:33).

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
