God Sees Our Tears

Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up … Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
Psalm 56:1, 3–4

God Sees Our Tears
David had enemies who were seemingly everywhere and in malicious pursuit of him. You probably do not have actual armed men chasing you to take your life, but you may be surrounded by troubles that are just as real, though less tangible. My friend, if you are a child of God, these verses are just as true for you today as they were for David then.

When your troubles assail, you too can confide in God, for His eyes “are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry” (Ps. 34:15). Knowing the God who has power to create the universe out of nothing, what have we to fear? “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31). God proved how deeply He cares for us by sending His Son to die on the cross to deliver us. In this costly act, we see that the all-powerful God is on our side; we will not fear the malevolent schemes of Satan; nor will we fear the people or the circumstances he tries to use to discourage us.

Perhaps, like David, you are crying out in soul weariness and sorrow because of events in your life. You too can say, You have “put my tears into Your bottle” (Ps. 56:8), meaning that each tear is known to Him and is felt by Him. What comfort it is to know that the Lord has noted each teardrop and has numbered it, even as He has numbered “the very hairs of your head” (Lk. 12:7). If, perhaps, you have never believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, He says to you, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mt. 11:28). That rest is not only to protect in trouble but is the rest we experience when we receive salvation through Him.

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More
