Lessons on Hezekiah (2)—Deliverance and Praise

This is the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and had recovered from his sickness The living, the living man, he shall praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make known Your truth to the children. "The Lord was ready to save me; therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life, in the house of the Lord."
Isaiah 38:9, 19-20 NKJV

Lessons on Hezekiah (2)—Deliverance and Praise
After reigning fourteen years, Hezekiah became sick and near to death. He was about thirty-nine. The prophet Isaiah told him to set his house in order for he would die. Hezekiah prayed, reminding God how he had walked faithfully before Him, and he wept a lot. God answered his prayer, telling him he would live fifteen more years, gave him a sign, and told him that he would be delivered from the king of Assyria.

In Isaiah 38 we find a writing from Hezekiah following his healing. We read several expressions of his initial sorrows and of his gratitude to God for his healing. In verse 19 we read, "The living, the living man, he shall praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make known Your truth to the children." How beautiful and how necessary it is to desire to make God's truth known to another generation and to share the joy of salvation and life there is in God! We can be sure Hezekiah did just that with his son Manasseh.

Let us not wait to receive something more to glorify the name of our God and Savior. We already have everything in Christ! Let us not wait for extraordinary things to happen to us to bear witness to the truth. This may never happen. Have we not ourselves already been healed by God from the deadly disease of sin? Let us then rejoice in Jesus our Lord and Savior—yes, rejoice always—and open our mouths to "proclaim the praises of Him who called [us] out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Pet. 2:9) to this generation and the next one, yes, to everyone around us, for He is worthy of our praises!

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More

SATAN INTIMIDATES

When Goliath came to the battlefield, he took the form of a big problem but he later became a big opportunity. He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus' Name. The...More
