The Only Thing We Should Worry About

I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.

Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Luke 12:4 NKJV; Luke 12:22 NKJV; Luke 12:32 NKJV

The Only Thing We Should Worry About
There are those who are afraid of man. This fear keeps them from coming to Christ. They are afraid for their life, or their well-being, or of being abased in the eyes of men. But our Lord Jesus has a very important message for them: “I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!” (Lk. 12:5).

Then, among those who know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and have the promise of “a better and an enduring possession” (Heb. 10:34), there are some who struggle with worries—and it can be any one of us at some point. These can be about the present, or the future, about what to eat or put on, or about any other necessity of life. The Lord also has a very important message for us: “which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (Lk. 12:25). None of us can do that. So why worry? “Your Father knows that you need these things” (v. 30). This life is fleeting, so short, only for a moment, and our God and Father not only takes care of us in this short moment, but it is also His good pleasure to give us the kingdom—we will inherit all things with Christ.

There is only one thing, in fact, that should be the occupation of our mind: “That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col. 1:10). If we are worried, we should bring it to the Lord and leave it in His able and capable hands. The time is short and the Lord is at hand. May our hearts be free of any worry or fear as we await His return, and be occupied with fully pleasing Him.

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, has said, Cretans are always liarsThis testimony is true; for which cause rebuke them severely, that they may be sound in the faith.

Today God is calling you (3)

I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail.' Luke 22:32 NASB

God wants you to do His will, but you'll never reach the place of spiritual maturity in which you're free of Satan. You can overcome him, but you can't eliminate him. Look at Peter. He had only one gear: overdrive. He was always...More
