The Exquisite Graciousness of Christ

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

The Exquisite Graciousness of Christ
How wonderful Christ is! How He watches to bless us! Is there something that is the one care of your heart? And is that one care half as much to you as you are to Christ? Do not think that His eye has not been on each one of us today. We little appreciate how He looks on us as those given Him of the Father, a people for whom He has so well done what He has done, a people so identified with His own heart’s affections.

Ah! Christ loves to hear His people speak of Him and for Him. He desires that a people down here should have something to say for Him, that they should be practical witnesses for Him down here. He has a way of accomplishing this, which He distinctly will reveal if any are practically His servants. John had it, and it is the same with us now. You may have been dwelling on a passage of Scripture, speaking a word for Him, and did not Christ come in? You knew not how, but it was Christ—Christ willing to stoop down to the lowest extremity of His servant’s weakness, to give that servant power to testify for Him.

It is very blessed to see littleness like that of an infant in saints like John and Paul, to see them upheld by Christ every step of the way—to see Christ taking occasion of our littleness to show the exquisite graciousness that is connected with His divine glory. We often think of His glory but neglect to think of His grace in that glory; everything characterizing the Lord is grace!

All hangs on Himself, whether to sustain faith or to lead forth praise.

G. V. Wigram

Our wants are known to Jesus; all fullness dwells in Him:
He healeth all diseases, who did our souls redeem.
We tell our griefs to Jesus, our burdens and our cares;
He from them all releases, who all our sorrow shares.

H. Bonar

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

A DISTINCTIVE FAITH

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
