God’s Faithfulness and Our Responsibility

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24

God’s Faithfulness and Our Responsibility
God is faithful to Himself and to His people, whether it concerns His earthly people, Israel, or the Church. God cannot deny who He is or what He has promised. His faithfulness is clearly demonstrated in His dealings with Israel: past, present, and future. God’s faithfulness is something that believers from among the Gentiles also may rely on. The apostle Paul wrote about this to the new believers in Thessalonica after he had been forced to leave them. But he exhorted them to put their trust in God because He is faithful, whatever happens. Do we trust Him and His faithfulness?

Our faithful God is the One who has called us. His call implies a relationship with Him. It started when we were saved and cannot be broken. This guarantees that He will take care of us and of all His people, no matter where we are or whatever our needs may be. The last part of this verse confirms this very point. God’s call implies a personal relationship with Him and ongoing fellowship. In His faithfulness He takes care of our needs; yet this does not exclude our own participation and responsibility.

When God called Abraham to leave his land, people, and family to go to the land of promise, the patriarch responded to this call and put his trust in Him. God protected and guided him all the way from Mesopotamia to the land of Canaan. He led him from place to place while Abraham responded with the altars he built to worship God, amid terrible idolatry all around.

God has called us with a heavenly call, taking us out of this world to have us for Himself, for it is also a holy call. He has set us apart as we are surrounded by idolatry, rebellion, and sin. God’s call brought us into a relationship with Him and His people, in the light, marked by love, while in a world of hatred and sin.

Another thing that can divert your attention is opening your mouth prematurely to reveal your secret to sympathetic friends'. Never share a testimony until it is...More
